This topic describes the steps to install a custom configuration of Chili!Soft ASP for HP-UX systems. For more information about a custom installation, see "Choosing an Installation Option for HP-UX" in this chapter.
The configuration options you specify when installing a custom configuration of Chili!Soft ASP can have serious consequences for your server environment. Before you begin, make sure you meet the following requirements:
· You are logged on as root.
· If you are downloading Chili!Soft ASP from the Web, you must have 45 MB of hard disk space available in order to extract the installation files.
· Your hardware and software meets the requirements listed in "Installation Requirements—Chili!Soft ASP for HP-UX" in this chapter.
· You know your product serial number. Chili!Soft ASP requires a valid serial number in order to run. If you downloaded the product from the Web, you should have received an e-mail message that included your serial number. If you are installing this product from a CD-ROM, the serial number is printed on the CD-ROM case. If you are installing a trial version from a CD-ROM, you must obtain a serial number at:
http://www.chilisoft.com/register
· The Web server has been shut down. If you are not familiar with this process, consult your network administrator.
· Before installing Chili!Soft ASP 3.6, you must first install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) patches for your version of HP-UX (HP-UX 11i or 11.00), which you can obtain at:
http://www.unix.hp.com/java/infolibrary/patches.html
You must do this because the setup program automatically installs JRE 1.2.2 on the target Web server, in order to enable Chili!Beans. Chili!Beans enables you to access Java objects and classes from an ASP script. For more information about Chili!Beans, see "Chili!Beans Component Reference" in "Chapter 5: Developer's Reference."
· To configure Chili!Soft ASP to run with a Web server that is already installed on the target computer, you need to know the following:
Absolute path name of the Web server main configuration file (for example, /usr/HTTPServer/conf/httpd.conf)
Absolute path name of the Web server binary (for example, /usr/HTTPServer/bin/httpd)
Web server version (for example 1.3.12)
Web server type (for example Apache)
Web server port number (for example 80)
Web server root directory (for example /usr/HTTPServer)
· If you configure Chili!Soft ASP to run with an Apache Web Server that does not support Dynamic Shared Objects (DSO), following installation you must manually link the Web server to Chili!Soft ASP and then recompile it, as described in "Configuring a Non-DSO Apache Web Server" in this chapter. If your Apache Web Server supports DSO, there are no additional steps to take: Chili!Soft ASP includes pre-built DSO modules that automatically link to your Web server.
· If you are installing a new Web server, you need to specify the port number for the Web server to use.
· You will need to specify a username and password for the Chili!Soft ASP Administration Console. Please note that if you specify a password and later forget it, you can no longer access the console. Be sure to specify a password that you can remember, or else plan to store it in a secure location.
· You need to know what language you want Chili!Soft ASP to support. The options are US English, British English, Dutch, French, German, Japanese Shift-JIS, Spanish, and Swedish. If you want, you can change the language after installation, as described in "Configuring International Support" in "Chapter 3: Managing Chili!Soft ASP."
To install a custom configuration of Chili!Soft ASP 3.6 for HP-UX, use the following procedure.
To install a custom configuration of Chili!Soft ASP for HP-UX
1. If you are installing Chili!Soft ASP from a CD-ROM, skip this step and go to step 2. If you are downloading Chili!Soft ASP from the Web, download the casp-3.6.0-HPUX.tar file to a temporary directory, and then extract the installation files by using the following command:
#> tar -xvf casp-3.6.0-HPUX.tar
This step creates the following files in the temporary directory, which you can delete after completing the installation:
A README file containing important product information
The install.sh installation script
A package/EULA file containing the end-user license agreement
A package/ directory containing files required to install Chili!Soft ASP
2. Run the install.sh script by using the following command. For downloaded versions, this script is located in the temporary directory you created in the previous step. For CD-ROM versions, this script is located on your installation CD-ROM.
#> ./install.sh
3. Review the End-User License Agreement (EULA) that displays. Enter yes if you agree to its conditions. You must type the entire word, "yes," all in lowercase letters.
– or –
Enter no if you do not agree. If you enter no, the Chili!Soft ASP setup program aborts the installation.
4. On the next screen, enter 2 to select the Custom Installation option.
5. On the next screen, press Enter to accept the default Chili!Soft ASP installation directory (/opt/casp).
– or –
Enter the absolute path name of the installation directory you want. It is a good idea to make a note of this location so that you can easily find the Chili!Soft ASP files at a later time.
6. On the next screen, enter y (yes) if you know the product serial number.
– or –
If you do not know the serial number, enter n. Chili!Soft ASP will not run without a serial number, so if you enter n, the setup program aborts the installation.
7. When prompted, enter the product serial number.
8. On the next screen, press Enter to accept the default language (English - US) for the ASP Server.
– or –
Enter the number of a language shown in the list.
9. The next screen provides options for choosing the Web server to run with Chili!Soft ASP. If you want the setup program to search your system and generate a list of installed Web servers from which to select, enter the number of the search option you want (1, 2, or 3).
– or –
If you want to skip this search and provide information about the Web server, enter the number 4 to select the Don’t search (specify web server on next screen) option. If you choose this option, you are then prompted to specify the type of Web server and the absolute path names to its files. Enter this information at the prompts.
10. On the next screen, enter the number of the Web server you want the setup program to configure to run with Chili!Soft ASP.
11. On the next screen, verify the information that the setup program displays about your Web server. If the information is incorrect, the Chili!Soft ASP installation could fail. In this event, you can run the installation script again. If you do this, it is recommended that you first run the uninstall script, as described in "Uninstalling Chili!Soft ASP" in this chapter. If the information on the screen is correct, enter y (yes).
– or –
If the information is incorrect, enter n (no).
12. If you entered y (yes) in the previous step, skip this step. If you entered n (no), then on the next screen, enter the number 4 to specify a Web server. At the prompts, enter the correct information for the Web server.
13. On the next screen, choose a configuration option for the ASP Server. Enter 1 to choose a default configuration (the recommended option). If you did not select a Web server to configure in step 11, the setup program skips this screen.
– or –
Enter 2 to choose a custom configuration. When you choose the custom configuration option, you are prompted for the following information:
Would you like me to restart the Apache Web Server for you? Type y (yes) if you want the setup program to automatically restart Apache Web Server after completing Chili!Soft ASP installation, or type n (no) if you do not want this, and then press Enter.
Chili!Soft ASP - Choose a Mode. Choose the number of the mode in which you want to run the ASP Server, or enter the number 3 for more information about this option.
1. Multi-threaded
2. Multi-process
3. More information
Enable samples on this Web server? Enter y (yes) if you want the setup program to install and configure the Chili!Soft ASP samples on your Web server, or n (no) if you do not want this.
Enable documentation on this Web server? Enter y (yes) if you want the setup program to install and configure the Chili!Soft ASP documentation on your Web server, or n (no) if you do not want this.

Would you like to start this Chili!Soft ASP Server? Enter y (yes) if you want the setup program to start Chili!Soft ASP automatically immediately after you finish installing it, or n (no) if you do not want this.
14. On the next screen, select a configuration option for the Administration Console. When you choose Auto-Select/Default (the recommended option) the setup program automatically configures the console. For this option, the setup program specifies the username as "admin" and the password as "root." To protect the security of your server, it is highly recommended that you change these settings as soon as possible. For information about doing this, see "Configuring Usernames and Passwords" in "Chapter 3: Managing Chili!Soft ASP."
When you choose Customize Settings, you are prompted to provide the following information:
Administration Console port number: Enter the number of the port on which the Web server should listen for requests for the Administration Console, or press Enter to accept the default (usually 5100).
Automatically start the Administration Console on system startup: Enter y (yes) if you want the Chili!Soft ASP Administration Console to start automatically each time you start the computer, or n (no) if you do not want this.
Type the username for the administrator: Enter the administrator username, or press Enter to accept the default ("admin").
New Password: Enter the administrator password, which is required for accessing the Administration Console. It is a good idea to make note of this password because you cannot access the Administration Console without providing it.
Confirm Password: Re-enter the administrator password to confirm it.
15. The next screen provides summary information about your Administration Console configuration, including the URL for accessing it. It is a good idea to make a note of this information or else print this screen for future reference. When finished, press Enter to complete the installation.
The setup program then completes the installation and writes a summary file to:
[C-ASP_INSTALL_DIR]/logs/install_summary
where [C-ASP_INSTALL_DIR] is the directory in which you installed Chili!Soft ASP (/opt/casp by default). It is a good idea to print the information contained in the install_summary file for future reference.
Before running a custom installation of Chili!Soft ASP, see "Important Notes About Custom Installations for HP-UX" in this chapter.
For information about the changes the setup program makes to your Web server configuration files, see "Changes to Netscape Web Server Configuration Files" or "Changes to Apache Web Server Configuration Files" in this chapter, as appropriate.
