Installing the Chili!Soft ASP Bundle for HP-UX

This topic describes the steps to install the Chili!Soft ASP 3.6 bundle for HP-UX. For more information about a bundle installation, see "Choosing an Installation Option for HP-UX" in this chapter.

Before you begin, make sure you meet the following requirements:

·   You are logged in as root.

·   If you are downloading Chili!Soft ASP from the Web, you must have 45 MB of hard disk space available in order to extract the installation files.

·   Your hardware and software meet the requirements listed in "Installation Requirements—Chili!Soft ASP for HP-UX" in this chapter.

·   You know your product serial number. Chili!Soft ASP requires a valid serial number in order to run. If you downloaded the product from the Web, you should have received an e-mail message that included your serial number. If you are installing this product from a CD-ROM, the serial number is printed on the CD-ROM case. If you are installing a trial version from a CD-ROM, you must obtain a serial number at:

http://www.chilisoft.com/register

·   You know what language you want Chili!Soft ASP to support. The options are US English, British English, Dutch, French, German, Japanese Shift-JIS, Spanish, and Swedish. If you want, you change the language after installation, as described in "Configuring International Support" in "Chapter 3: Managing Chili!Soft ASP."

·   Before installing Chili!Soft ASP 3.6, you must first install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) patches for your version of HP-UX (HP-UX 11i or 11.00), which you can obtain at:

http://www.unix.hp.com/java/infolibrary/patches.html

You must do this because the setup program automatically installs JRE 1.2.2 on the target Web server, in order to enable Chili!Beans. Chili!Beans enables you to access Java objects and classes from an ASP script. For more information, see the README file that was installed with your software. For more information about Chili!Beans, see "Chili!Beans Component Reference" in "Chapter 5: Developer's Reference."

·   If FrontPage Server Extensions are already installed on your computer, the Chili!Soft ASP setup program cannot properly install and configure the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions that are included in the bundle installation. If you already have FrontPage Server Extensions installed you must uninstall them before installing the Chili!Soft ASP 3.6 bundle.

·   If you have a previous installation of Chili!Soft ASP, you must uninstall it before installing this version. For information about uninstalling Chili!Soft ASP, see the documentation that was included with the version you must uninstall. For information about preserving your configuration settings, contact Chili!Soft Customer Support at eval@chilisoft.com.

To install the Chili!Soft ASP 3.6 bundle for HP-UX, use the following procedure.

To install the Chili!Soft ASP bundle for HP-UX

1.   If you are installing Chili!Soft ASP from a CD-ROM, skip this step and go to step 2. If you are downloading Chili!Soft ASP from the Web, download the casp-3.6.0-HPUX.tar file to a temporary directory, and then extract the installation files by using the following command:

 #> tar -xvf casp-3.6.0-HPUX.tar

This step creates the following files in the temporary directory, which you can delete after completing the installation:

A README file containing important product information
The install.sh installation script
A package directory containing the Chili!Soft ASP installation files and the EULA license file

2.   Run the install.sh script by using the following command. For downloaded versions, this script is located in the temporary directory you created in the previous step. For CD-ROM versions, this script is located on your installation CD-ROM.

 #> ./install.sh

3.   Review the End-User License Agreement (EULA) that displays. Enter yes if you agree to its conditions. You must type the entire word, "yes," all in lowercase letters.

– or –

Enter no if you do not agree. If you enter no, the Chili!Soft ASP setup program aborts the installation.

4.   On the next screen, enter 1 to select the Bundle Installation option.

5.   On the next screen, press Enter if you want to install the bundled Apache Web Server to port 80.

– or –

Enter a different port number for the Apache Web Server to use.

6.   On the next screen, enter your administrator username.

– or –

Press Enter to accept the default administration username ("admin"). To protect the security of your server, it is highly recommended that you do not accept the default username.

7.   When prompted, enter the administrator password.

8.   When prompted, re-enter the administrator password to confirm it.

9.   On the next screen, enter y (yes) if you know the product serial number. If you do not know the serial number, enter n. Chili!Soft ASP will not run without a serial number, so if you enter n, the setup program aborts the installation.

10.   When prompted, enter the product serial number.

11.   On the next screen, press Enter to accept the default language ("English - US").

– or –

Enter the number of a language shown in the list.

The setup program automatically installs the Chili!Soft ASP bundle to the following directory and performs basic configuration of the software:

/usr/local/chilisoft/casp ...\
